The Evolution of a Story

  Writing stream of conscious has its advantages and disadvantages. This form of writing is for poetry and fiction. Writing non-fiction is all about laying out factual informative in a cogent way, Fiction is all about entertaining, and that allows for all sorts of personal touches. In my humble opinion, writing stream of conscious allows a free flow of creative thought when it can be employed. For me, it is essential in writing fictional satire. The book I am currently writing has been testament to that, with the flow of action laid out not that far off a stand up routine.

The story of Wendell Wankerman is now nearing its end, with the story's primary character now being woven together for a fitting ending, and keeping the cherished need for hope alive, and maybe even helpful. I write satire, and this book, being my first fictional work has allowed e to stray from my traditional writing. Integrating the story's parts together as I move along, with the future being woven a few sentences ahead is challenging, yet rather invigorating.

I have expectations of having the book finished before the end of June, including the re-readings and editing, additions and subtractions. I have already signed onto Writers Branding for publishing the book. I am not one that easily hands over one of my books to an online publisher. Been there done that, and it wasn't worth it. They will be designing the cover, so I haven't a clue what that might look like at this point. But soon. Stay tuned.

The New Book

  I am most happy to announce that my newest book is finally in the publication stage. I took extra care with the editing, to insure good continuity, cogency and of course spulling. Although my memoir "Marinating in Dream Sauce" is satire, I didn't stray far off the path of realism. Writing "Gallery of Hope" was a totally different experience. I got to play with things, creating a story out of thin air as it were. At the Speed of Writing

 Fictional stories aren't much different than non-fictional accounts, if one isn't paying attention. They both share the quality of writing a story. However, non-fiction demands accountability to reality, truth, an correct spelling. Fiction, on the other hand allows for serious deviation from all that. It also allows for coming up with cool names that pop into the writer's head when needed. Having fourteen books in print of the non-fictional type has clarified these distinctions for me, now halfway through a satirical story with fictional names and people, places and dates. It just has to work within the story. Well, duh. figuratively speaking, most people that can read already know this. Growth as a Writer

Unless a writer is the original genius at penning words to the page, all writers grow and change over time, adapt their style as they grow. Not being said original genius, I find my style  of writing hanging over time, part of which has to do with influences I come across. Fifty years ago, when I was staring tout writing poetry, and some short stories, my influences derived of Erma Bombeck and Dave Barry. Satirists, and very influential for me. That influence was front and center when I wrote my satirical memoir "Marinating in Dream Sauce". Fairly subtle satire, I was not out front with the satirical points.
